100 years ago, the Main House at Stone Ridge sat atop a beautiful knoll overlooking Rockville Pike in Bethesda. They had few neighbors and the school enjoyed the expanse of this rural enclave of Washington, DC.
Today, the environment has changed dramatically. The school now finds itself next to two large governmental institutions: the National Institute of Health and the Naval Hospital of Bethesda.
Over the years, the school has attempted to adapt to the new environments, but it became clear that a new master plan was required not only to fully understand both the ability for the school to grow and modernize, but also to investigate the opportunities for non-academic development as a source of additional revenue.
After an extensive evaluation of existing conditions and interviews with the administration, faculty, staff and students, we prepared a master plan to address the future needs of the institution. The new plan includes the construction of a new performing arts center, new classrooms and a new cafeteria.
