The 36-story tower was designed and built on a fast-track and is located on one of the most important sites in Shanghai – one block from the People’s Park and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and opposite the Shanghai Workers Cultural Palace.

It comprises an entire city block and is approximately 65,000 square meters. At the base of the tower is a multi-story retail podium with active displays on the exterior. The design brief was to create a landmark building to signal Shanghai’s entry into the high-tech marketplace. The undulating curtain wall expands the narrow floor and creates an exciting dynamic to the crowded Shanghai skyline.

Michael Winstanley AIA AICP was the Design Principal for the project during his tenure as Design Director at Leo A Daly.
