As part of the first campus master plan since it was originally established at its current location, the University of the District of Columbia (“UDC”) requested an assessment of the existing academic program and facilities needs. The assessment was intended to provide the basis for implementing comprehensive proposals that will advance the University’s mission and goals.
Situated on a prominent urban site adjoining an international chancery center and an established community of residential and commercial uses, the UDC master plan identifies specific opportunities for reconfiguring existing facilities while providing new amenities throughout the campus. Distinguished by a campus setting that features extensive public plazas and outdoor recreation features, the University offers a substantial range of academic programs, convenient access, and physical prominence within its Northwest Washington site.
Michael Winstanley AIA AICP was the Design Principal for this project during his tenure as Design Director for Leo A Daly.
