The Master Plan for the University of Arizona focuses on the northeast sector of the campus and links the University of Arizona campus with the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center in a new, vital urban mixed-use district.

The project was stimulated by the partnership of the University and a private owner of a strategic land assemblage. The program is based on the University’s need for housing, office space, and a performing arts center. The Health Sciences Center gains additional medical office space and parking. The University community and the city benefit from this proposal which introduces a dynamic shopping and entertainment district at this important Tucson intersection. The success of the district will be its variety of uses and its location.

This new district is designed to be an integrated part of the University of Arizona Community developed around a central green similar in spirit to the open mall of the historic grounds adjacent to the Old Main. Rather than isolating itself from the city fabric, it is designed to be part of what already exists. In this way, it also has the potential to be developed over time in a series of phases.
