Michael Winstanley Architects & Planners has been working with the Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart since 2006, analyzing their existing facilities and preparing master plans to modernize the 100-year-old campus. Concurrent with our analysis, the County has been making improvements to Rockville Pike, causing the school to reconsider the entrances into the campus and, accordingly, the campus traffic circulation.
As part of those improvements, the first project to be realized encompasses a multi-purpose field project, new campus entrance, and the extension of an existing loop road, setting the aesthetic palette for additional improvements that are planned in the future. The new entrance will conduct traffic to the loop road, circulating around the new multi-purpose synthetic field which is designed to host soccer, field hockey, lacrosse and general recreation for the 750 girls in kindergarten through twelfth grades. Supporting the field are bleachers for 200 spectators, bathrooms, storage and a concession stand.
